5th July 2026

           Dear All,

I feel as though I should issue a Medical Bulletin like they used to do for the Queen when she was poorly! I have enjoyed 3 hospital visits this week with a 4th lined up for Monday. Monday I was summoned to the Vascular Studies Unit at Addenbrookes and after a wait of 1.5 hours a scan revealed a TIA. Tuesday I had a puncture in my bike and this necessitated a trip to St Ives to purchase a new inner tube.

On Wednesday I was back at the Spire for a consultation about the numbness in my arm which showed as degenerative disc narrowing on a MRI scan. The doctor decided that it was not serious and recommended Pilates.

On Thursday I was summoned back to Addenbrookes for a CT scan - I could sell postcards of various views of my body! Monday’s appointment is at the Vascular Surgery clinic so hopefully there will be some sensible action.

Adrian came for lunch on Thursday and on Friday I started cutting the hedge on Shaw’s side .I had time to finish a quiz for Over Carnival which is next Saturday.

Friday evening Kate cooked a meal for the Moldova Matters committee. We are currently a little short of money as one of supporting churches has stopped its funding.

Derek has supplied several bags of rabbit manure this year so we invited him and Joyce for afternoon drinks yesterday and donated a few vegetables as payment.

We have carted a boot full of water up to the allotment every day for the last month.

Ben has been cycling in the French Alps this week testing out part of the Tour de France course to see if it is suitable for the race and sent back some spectacular photos.

Best Wishes

Mike & Kate
