Dear All,
We attended an ex NIAB lunch at Girton Golf Course on Tuesday
and enjoyed our first decent shower of the month. On Wednesday we decided to
visit Sandringham as we had barely seen it before – perhaps a brief call about
50 years ago. We took Norman Ingle and Adrian Hart to fill the car.We were
agreeably surprised by how good the gardenes were, neatly cared for by 17
gardeners! The trees were especially healthy. The king and queen failed to make
an appearance!

We
heard that Sophie Bridgeman died on Wednesday. Our Thursday walk started at
Hail Weston just beyond St Neots and took in the Staunton’s and Dillington. It
was rather windy but otherwise OK with plenty of flowers in view.

Friday
morning was cricket pitch preparation and fortunately all the machinery has
been repaired and was working well. In the evening we attended Over Players
Presentation of the musical ”Calendar
Girls”. We didn’t know quite what to expect but it an excellent performance
with some brilliant singers – and all handled very tastefully!
Saturday
saw us back at the Norris Museum in St Ives leading a chapel visit. Numbers
were low but it was a decent outing followed by coffee and cakes at “Toms”.

As
a measure of how old I am this is a photo of twins Adrian and Adriana in 2006

The
garden is producing well despite the dry weather and badger attention. This
week we started new potatoes and mange tout peas as well as strawberries coming
on stream.
