21st December 2025

           Dear All,

After swimming on Monday Kate stayed in Cambridge for her monthly Book Club meeting and I met up with David, Lawrie & Howell for a meal at Over Community Centre.

On Tuesday we finished off writing cards and sending out compilations before driving to Girton Golf Club for a get together with a few ex NIAB folk. After we called on Brian and Barbara Tyrell then on to Oakington Garden Centre to finish Christmas shopping.

On Wednesday morning I dropped into Over doctor’s surgery and managed to see a doctor as I had not been feeling great with high blood pressure and discomfort in my chest. The doctor sent me for an ECG in the surgery then decided he would like another opinion so I was despatched to Addenbrookes Hospital for further examinations involving anther ECG, X-Ray and blood tests. Needless to say this was not a rapid business so we (Kate had accompanied me) did not arrive home until 7pm. Happily my heart was fine but the blood pressure is still ongoing.

In the evening it was the Garden Club Christmas party with a quiz and snacks.

We both managed the walk on Thursday which started in Trumpington Park & Ride car park and proceeded via Byron’s Pool, Granchester, Newnham and Hobson’s Conduit. After, 34 of us had a Christmas meal at the Green Man at Trumpington. There were other groups present and it seemed as though they had over stretched themselves.

Lunch

After Tesco’s on Friday I cut our grass then gave the Cricket square a Christmas haircut. The mild wet weather the past few week means that the grass has continued to grow and I harvested four barrow loads of grass.

I spent time Saturday morning working on both the Walking and Chapel reviews and watched Over Reserves draw 2 v 2 with local rivals Swavesey.

Best wishes
